Why are the judges on Americas Got Talent not even American?

It’s a little thing that jsut annoys me. I mean it’s called Americas Got Talent yet 2 judges are British and Hasslehoff I heard wasn’t American but even if he is most of the judges are still British not American. Why would they have mostly British judges on an American based show searching for talent in America NOT Britain?

Previously answered the exact same question:

Simon Cowell is the executive producer of America’s Got Talent, just like he is of American Idol. The show format was recycled from Britain’s Got Talent (which a really awesome, though certainly less attractive than any given AI champ, opera singer won last year–look for ‘Paul Potts’ on YouTube.) As executive producer, Cowell probably hired Piers Morgan to judge because he knew Morgan from his previous roles as a TV presenter of various things on the Beeb, and because Morgan judges alongside Cowell on Britain’s Got Talent.

As far as Sharon Osborne’s concerned, she replaced Brandy after the first season: It’s likely due to her minor celebrity status; she’s the famous name on the panel. I suspect her appearance on the panel as a Brit is much more coincidence than is Morgan’s.

The Hoff is American, according to Wikipedia: Born in Baltimore, MD.
