When is it considered to be tailgating?

I mean yeah when you’re right on the guys bumper….but like how far away is then considered to be?

 

According to the Driving School video I had to watch, when I got a ticket:

There should be at least a 2 second space between you and the car in front of you. As you’re driving, when the car in front of you passes a “marker” start counting 1-1000,2-1000, if you pass that same marker before you’re done saying that - you are too close.
As far as the car behind you, I feel if I can’t see their front tires, they’re too close. (My name for tailgaters is “Butthuggers”!

Tailgaiting is when you’re closer than 10 feet per 10 mph that youre driving.

ex. 40 ft for 40 mp
