What is the best way to repair a cinderblock basement wall?

Question Details: We have dug down on the outside and exsposed two large cracks about 1 inch x 7 inches.

Any preperation or product information would be grately appreciated.I have a little knowledge in this area, just enough to get me in trouble.

 

fill with plastic roof cement (pitch) , cover area abudantly
let dry for a day or so.

Use some backer rod and caulk,then waterproof.All materials available from Home depot/Lowe’s.
