Poison in kittens’ claws?
About two weeks ago, my stepmother was scratched by one of our outside kittens. Now there is a big mark where she was scratched and she says that it is poisoned. Do outside kittens really have poison in their claws?
No, not poison.
Claw scratches can get infected though–your stepmother should have washed it out with soap and water and pressed on it to make it bleed a bit more to get out any infection that might have gotten into it. Then dabbed hydrogen peroxide on it to sterilize the outside.
Since something got into the wound, of course it will puff up and hurt, there’s bacteria inside that needs to get out. But no, there was no poison ON the kitten’s claws, they don’t have poison glands.

No. No cats have poison in their claws. The scratch wound sounds like it got infected. Put some antibiotic ointment on it.

Unless it’s a super kitten from a sci-fi movie that is physicly impossible chances are it’s just infected or irratated plus poison tends not to make stuff swell venom does and cats are not venomous either
